Capturing the poetry of Tennessee Williams' The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore—not to mention the star power of Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis—on paper is a daunting task, but Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs” Robertson was up to the challenge! Our artistic adventurer headed to the secluded Italian villa of Flora Goforth (Dukakis), who is writing her memoirs when a handsome stranger (Darren Pettie) comes to stay. In the company of her harangued assistant (Maggie Lacey) and eccentric neighbor (Edward Hibbert), Goforth works day and night to meet her publisher’s deadline, dulling the pain of her ‘neuralgia’ with pills and cognac. Take a look at Squigs' stunning interpretation, and then take your own journey to the Amalfi coast, by way of Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Photo by Matthew Murphy
